1. Could you tell us about your recent works of creation?
How is people's feedback to the work?

My latest creation is a resort spa at Mission Hills Golf (The World largest Golf) and we are very happy to hear that Miss Annika Sorenstam (one of the top female golfer) took the spa treatment and good comments on the spa.

2. When did you start creating any design work? Could you tell us about your first work, and also how you started your career in architecture field?

The strong urge to create has been part of me since I was a kid. I think my comics creation at my younger days is my initial "design" works. From using comics as a creative media, I was well trained to imagine and dream.

My first design work is a coffee shop cum 2nd hand bookshop name Archiude (Architecture + attitude). This shop is opened by myself and a group of friends. I like this project because it is one of a better way to explore my design ideas by treating myself as a client and a designer at the same time.

3. You have spent your time in various environments over countries since you were a child. How do you think your cross-cultural or multi-cultural experiments effect on your thoughts or works?

Constantly shitting from one city to another helps me to built up new perception in looking at things around me. Different living conditions provides me with new passions towards my life and I use the "living passion" as a source of my creations. I think as a Chinese, I consider myself lucky, that I am able to taste these cities with the mix of West and East.

4. Please let me ask about "Through Our Eyes Exhibition". The whole exhibition space was created like one special installation. How did the idea of the unique design come up, such as using school black board, or rotating light box to show photos? How was the reaction of people coming to the exhibition?

"Through Our Eyes Exhibition" is an exhibition on secondary school student’s photographic works. In order to reflect what and how they "see" the world, I use simple idea of playground to showcase their works, which makes the visitor enable to engage with these youngsters' vision in a fun manner.

5. In your design, we can often see organic elements (shape, color, light or material etc) in cool and modern interiors/exteriors. How do you involve with natural/organic features when you design a space? Is there any link with Chinese geomancy like traditionally featured in many architects in Hong Kong?

I like to connect my design with my everyday life. In making interior space I will focus on ideas that comes from my surroundings and not merely on form making or organic elements. There is no intention input traditional elements directly in my design, because I am not a traditional guy!

6. What kind of events, things or moments turns to be the source of your inspiration?
Is there any special thing inspiring you lately?

My sources of inspiration are from various activities such as having good time with my family and reading books.

7. What is the basic thought (or theme) you would you like to share with your audience throughout your works?

I begin to regard design as the pursuit of beauty in daily life and my new desire is able to practice a living architecture in a dialogue of relationships. In my works I wish to search for new relationships between the people and the environment.

8. Who is your favorite artist (in any genre)?

In fact I am not sure how I define my favorite artist because it changes every year. At this moment my favorite artist is Matter Barney.

9. Could you choose one from your work especially you like or very impressive to you? Please tell us reason, too.

My choice is the Design Bookshop that I created in Hong Kong. I am also one of the owner for this bookshop therefore to design and running the shop can be seen as a continuous process; we have organized mini-exhibitions or events through out this 4 years so this project is more like another experiential "place" for me.

10. What do you think of creative scene in Hong Kong now, compared with other countries?
How do you want to be involved in Hong Kong creative scene?

In my opinion each city hats it’s own charm and it is same for the creative people. We can see quite a number of Hong Kong Designer being recognized in the international stage. I have positive feeling about Hong Kong’s creative scene.

11. What kind of works would you like to create in the future?
Is there any plan for next creation?

I would like to involve more design works in relation to architecture and normally I only make plans for my holidays not on my creations.
